In the Nilgiri hills of Tamil Nadu resides the pastoral Toda community, and it is their traditional art form that we call Toda embroidery. Also called Pukhoor, Toda embroidery is famous for its characteristic use of red or black thread on unbleached white cotton. The tripartite colour scheme symbolises the underworld (black), the earth (white) and the celestial (red) realms.
Toda embroidery is so fine it is often mistaken for weaving. For our Toda Treasure Box collection, we have curated earrings and necklaces especially for you, featuring this age-old art form.
