PAIR IT UP
A Kalamkari kurta cut kalidar – panelled and flared from the bodice – so it moves like an anarkali but weighs like a cotton kurta. Hand-block Kalamkari in red, blue and mustard on a beige ground, a boat neck with a keyhole at the left shoulder, three-quarter sleeves and a 46-inch ankle length. It is the Kalamkari kurti for dinners, pujas and long summer days.
Key Features
- Hand-block Kalamkari floral and paisley print (Pracheen Kalamkari) on 100% cotton
- Kalidar cut: fitted bodice, panelled flare to the hem
- Boat neckline with asymmetric keyhole; 17" three-quarter sleeves
- 46" length, unlined, opaque
- Sizes XS to XXXL
Style it with
- Daily: black cotton palazzos and beige ankle-buckle sandals
- Festive: the solid cotton dupatta with Baagh border and onyx black tribal earrings
- Office: white straight pants and a broad cuff on the three-quarter sleeve
About the print
Kalamkari block printing from Machilipatnam uses natural dyes – madder red, indigo, iron black, mustard – on myrobalan-treated cotton, so the base is cream and the print softens and deepens after the first wash. Small variations between pieces are the hand in handcrafted. See Kalamkari kurtis & kurtas and the crafts guide.

FAQs
Is a kalidar kurta the same as an anarkali?
Close – both flare from the bodice in panels (kalis). A kalidar in cotton is lighter and shorter in flare than a festive anarkali, which makes it wearable every day.
Is it lined?
No; the cotton is opaque and no slip is needed.
What bottom goes with it?
Straight pants or churidar keep the flare clean; palazzos work if the kurta sits above the ankle on you.
