An Ajrakh lehenga in pure Gaji silk: a three-piece set – choli, 3.4-metre flared lehenga and a 2.5-metre dupatta – hand-block-printed in Ajrakh red and multicolour on the glossy, weighty Gaji silk of Kutch. It is the lehenga for a sangeet, a reception or a wedding guest who wants craft rather than sequins, and because it is printed cotton-silk it weighs a fraction of an embroidered one. The lehenga is semi-stitched so the waist is fitted to you.

About Ajrakh on Gaji silk
Ajrakh is the resist-and-mordant block print of Kutch, usually on cotton; on Gaji silk – a satin-weave silk from the same region – the natural madder and indigo take on a sheen. Each piece goes through a dozen printing and washing stages, so small variations are part of it. The crafts guide covers the process.
